RunPod is an AI, machine learning, and general computing cloud computing platform underpinned by Kubernetes and designed to execute code on GPU and CPU instances and containers.

What is RunPod?

RunPod is a cloud computing platform for AI, machine learning, and general computing. It enables code execution on GPU and CPU instances through containers. Pods in RunPod come in two flavors. One is the secure cloud that is hosted in T3/T4 datacenters and thus provides low latency, high reliability, and a completely secure environment. The other type of pod is the community cloud, which connects compute providers to their customers through a secure peer-to-peer architecture. RunPod additionally provides a command-line interface tool (runpod-cli) for any developer to develop and deploy custom endpoints on the serverless platform. To support as much flexibility as a traditional VM, RunPod has adopted a containerized execution approach and thus uses containers.

What is Serverless?

Serverless optimizes your production environment for pay-per-second serverless GPU computing. Define a worker. Create a REST API endpoint for it to queue jobs. Serverless autoscales to fill demand. This service is part of Secure Cloud. Enjoy ultra-low cold-start times and the very best security.

What are Pods?

Pods enables you to run using containers and/or directly on GPU and CPU instances. There are two types of Pods: secure cloud and community cloud. The Secure Cloud runs in the T3/T4 data centers, where redundancy and security are priority number one; the Community Cloud is a network of individual compute providers and consumers all connected through a vetted, secure, and peer-to-peer network.
